Richard (“Rick”) Matthews is vice president, AS Operations, and site manager, Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence, at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (AS), a premier provider of manned and unmanned aircraft, space systems and advanced technologies critical to our nation’s security. He also serves as AS sector lead executive for Florida Business Relations.
Matthews serves as AS VP Operations leading sector Security, ESH&M and Facilities.
In his site role, Matthews leads an integrated functional team supporting a myriad of programs in the Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence, including the E-8C Joint STARS and E-2D Advanced Hawkeye.
As sector lead executive for Florida Business Relations, Matthews represents AS in state, regional and local government relations, as well as in business and civic communities across Florida.
Matthews joined Northrop Grumman in June 2007 following a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force. He led major weapon system programs, including the B-2 Stealth Bomber, and has an extensive background in leading large wholesale and retail logistics organizations.
Matthews earned his undergraduate degree in marketing management from Virginia Tech, a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University and a Master of Science in national resource management from the National Defense University. He also completed the Advanced and Executive Program Manager courses at the Defense Systems Management College and is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at Penn State University.
